How does it work?

The advanced technology works by allowing the light produced by the laser to pass through the skin and break up the tattoo ink into tiny particles. The body then disposes of these fragments via its immune system. In most cases, laser therapy is the most effective and safest option for removing a tattoo.

The treatment may be uncomfortable. It is very similar to the procedure of getting a tattoo. We can offer numbing cream prior to treatment if required and will give full aftercare instructions to minimise any soreness after the treatment.

Laser light targets the pigment in the ink that causes photo acoustic fragmentation of the ink particles. These particles are removed by phagocytes and drained out of the body through the lymphatic system.

There will swelling, redness and a white frosting over the tattoo straight after treatment. This is perfectly normal and indicates the treatment has picked up the ink. The area may then scab over and could take up to two weeks to fully heal.

The Harmony XLTM is a medical graded laser and is powerful enough to hit even the most stubborn ink, the number of treatments required depends on the tattoo, the ink used, skin type and quality of tattoo. The Recommended course is a minimum of 6-8 treatments/once every 8 weeks.
